 The school named "Higher courses I Studium" was set up on 24 March 1993. The Ministry of Education of Estonia gave a licence providing that the courses would be transformed into higher school in future. As there was no higher school Law at that time, I Studium was established as non-profit organization. And on 1 October 1993 it was reorganized into "Institute I Studium". In 1993 there was only economic specialization and since 1994 there has also been business law.

At the moment on the Faculty of Economics you can get education in:

  • business administration
  • banking
  • accounting,

on the Faculty of Business Law:

  • economist-lawyer.

In 1997 the school received a licence №353 from the Ministry of Education, which gives us the right to provide higher education. The name was changed to "Higher School I Studium".

In June 1997 the first 82 students defended their diploma works, three of them - with a first-class? honours degree. The best graduate Jana Laasalu took part in a national contest of students' work. And her work was recognized as one of the best.

In spring 1999 the work of the school was examined by an international evaluation team of experts and their opinion was? positive concerning both economic and business law faculties. The school has had a new licence №774 HM since 18 August 1999. In 1999 new facilities were built: administration office, library, etc. Moreover, there is a cheap canteen and a computer room (linked to Internet) at school.

In 2001 the school got full international accreditation, which gives it the right to provide its graduates with state certificates. Since 2002 the school has started enrollment for a new speciality: "accounting".
